The present study focuses on the former Francesatto military site, a disused military infrastructure, an integral part of the state heritage. The project area, located near the historic center of Cividale and the Natisone riverbed, covers more than 60,000 square meters, suggesting the dimensional and functional complexity of the project.
The project is a process designed to gradually transform the site, mainly focusing on rediscovering open spaces and connections with the rest of the city (infrastructural, functional, architectural). The initial idea is to turn the area into an extraordinary opportunity for improvement, development, transformation, and "zero volume" city growth. Therefore, the study is structured as a "decalogue," a list of themes, strategies, and objectives that guide the development of the study, according to a thematic-operational and technical-design guideline.
